When I settled into my seat on a short flight to Vancouver last week, I began to think of the trust we put in the pilot. Trust that they will get us safely from point A to point B.
But, in reality it is more than just the pilot, it’s an exceptional team of professional technicians that deliver you there.
Think about it. Remove any part of the complex system and the whole thing falls apart. A good pilot is a good start. Are they any more important than an attentive air traffic controller? What value does a skilled mechanic have? What role does a calm flight attendant have in smoothing the bumpiest skies.
So, that got me thinking about the exceptional group of professionals that keep the BC Green Caucus in the air and landing safely.
When you see the work of the me and my colleagues, Andrew Weaver and Sonia Furstenau, it is the cumulative effort of an incredibly professional, passionate and powerful team.
They are an acclaimed bunch. As we move from meeting, to briefing, to second reading and committee debate, and prepare for Question Period, we regularly hear about the quality and professionalism of our people. It’s true. They are incredible!
So, this one’s for you Aldous, Claire, Evan, Jillian, Judy, Sarah and Stephanie. HÍSḴW̱E and thank you for looking after us in our legislative work.
And, this one’s for you JoJo, Laura, Ryan and the many volunteers in our Sidney office. HÍSḴW̱E and thank you for looking after our critically important constituency work.
Finally. There is a great fear in starting down the path of thanking the important people. The people who support you day in and day out. The fear of missing someone. Even the 10 people listed above is actually 11 when Erin is not left. Erin is not technically staff, but as a contractor and friend she has done a lot of great work and heavy lifting over the past 20+ months.
So this is final thank you is to all the incredible staff and volunteers of the BC Green Party office, Provincial Council and our local Saanich North and the Islands riding association. Casting this big wide net is the safest way to reach each and every one of you to tell how much I appreciate the work you do. HÍSḴW̱E (thank you)!
