Emily, Silas, Ella. HÍSḴW̱E (Thank you)

A while back now my good friend Evan, took me aside and told me straight. “Adam, you need to do a better job acknowledging the people around you!” It is important advice. (His advice always is.)

Yesterday’s post was a tip of my hat to all the incredible people who lift me (and my colleagues Sonia Furstenau and Andrew Weaver) up everyday.

The people who dive deep into the policy, dig out the details in the research, develop the narrative so we can stand in the chamber, or in front of the camera, and tell the story.

Today’s post is about my family.

My family are not shy, so you have probably ran into them along the way. They are vibrant, caring and love our community.

Our little Olsen clan has grown a lot over the past few months. Last night before bed, Silas and Ella put us through the SENĆOŦEN paces. As Ella said, “I can’t help it! I am stuck in SENĆOŦEN!” It is beautiful how in just a few months, our ancient language is coming alive in our house.

Emily has inspired so many to powerfully speak. To share their story. The Connection Project this fall was a culmination of months of work. Thank you for grinding away late into the night, facing darkness, in search of the light.

So, this tip of my hat is to you, Emily, Silas and Ella. HÍSḴW̱E (Thank you) for your love, patience and passion!
