Fishy Business – PolitiCoast Podcast

Jul 23, 2018 | Blog, Governance | 2 comments

I listen to a lot of podcasts in recent weeks. One such production is PolitiCoast. Ian Bushfield and Scott de Lange Boom are just five episodes from 100. They talk a lot of B.C. politics, and it is an honour to be one of their many guests.

Wild salmon have been the focal issue of my legislative work since I was elected. It caught the attention of Ian and Scott and we had an in-depth conversation about wild salmon, fish farming, and jurisdictional frustration.

Check it out.

I talk and write a lot about wild salmon (as you may know if you have been following my blog) and I invite you to check out all my work on this important issue to British Columbia.

    Hi Adam;

    Consider advocating that Canada become a World Wildlife Refuge, with the export or import of wildlife ended. In effect removing all marine species from exposure to foreign fish buyers.

    I think you’ll agree that this can provide immediate, blanket protection for all species, and by comparison, other inititatives would be ad hoc, piece meal and doomed to failure. It is a notion Canadians can approve as a nation.

    Hey Adam, as someone involved with the commercial fishing industry for over 50 years, and seeing lots of serious issues effecting our dwindling salmon stocks, I have trouble understanding why one of the major issues is not being spoken of. That is the targeting of pacific salmon stocks by fleets in international waters. Someone must start talking about this, the #’s are absolutely staggering. (As observed by Canadian surveillance aircraft). We need a champion Adam, please use your position to help our salmon. Thanks. Craig Coté
