Note about the Security Warning alert

Security certificate issue has been resolved!

I have been blogging uninterrupted every day for the past year. Each day I schedule a post, readers get an email notification and you leave a comment if you feel inspired.

It’s all been working pretty well. Until last week.

Last Thursday evening during my visit to Waglisla (Bella Bella) in the Heiltsuk territory on the central coast of British Columbia I went online  to schedule a few posts. That’s when I first saw the ominous screen notifying me about a potential security risk ahead.

It’s a gut-dropping feeling. A little sense of dread growing into panic that a hacker is in control of my site. Or, that my 300+ day post streak is in threat of being broken.

As it turns out the security certificate that secures my site expired earlier in the evening. When we set up the hosting accounts, we should have set the certificate up to automatically renew. All day Friday (and through this past weekend) we have been working with the service provider to renew the security certificate and get everything running tickety-boo.

I really appreciate everyone who has reached out to let me know they are getting the message. I also appreciate that when you run into these messages online it raises concern that something more nefarious is going on. Thankfully that doesn’t appear to the case and that the issue is now resolved.

Apologies for the inconvenience and concern that this may have caused you!
