On the seventh day. Rest.

Sundays.

Remember when everything was closed on Sundays? It wasn’t that long ago.

My parents never worked on Sunday. We would go to Sunday School and church in the morning, and in the afternoon we spent time as a family.

Times have changed in the past few decades. More and more, Sunday is just like any other day of the week on the calendar.

There is no longer any time to rest. The convenience of open stores has contributed to our busy-ness, packing and stacking every part of our lives with something to be late for.

Shortly after the 2017 election, Sunday became a no-go zone in my calendar. It was explicitly declared! No work-related events on a Sunday. So, invitations for events on Sunday receive a pleasant message kindly offering my regrets. That space is reserved for rest.

Recently we have added a family outing to our Sunday routine. Four weeks in a row now we have headed outside to walk and enjoy nature together.

Find a day, block it in your calendar and rest!

Here are a few pictures of our adventures. What adventures will you enjoy?
