I entered Ms. Brookes classroom to a chorus of student voices welcoming me to the Strawberry Vale Environmental Awards. It’s an incredible honour to be recognized for my work. Honestly, nothing in my entire time as an elected official has matched the Earth Care Award for “helping the Earth for future generations.”
Sarah read the following prepared statement.
“Adam Olsen, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping salmon, rivers, orca’s and the people of BC. We have been very concerned this year with the orca who was mourning her baby in the summer, with the degradation of the salmon bearing riversides and habitats.
We hope that with the protection of forests there may be less damage to the watersheds. We also need to protect all the rivers which have chinook in them, for if we don’t, the orca’s will not have enough food to eat. The Southern resident killer whales need our help and they don’t need increased tanker traffic.
Thank you for sharing yourself with the people of BC with your stories, your connections, your honesty and your hard work. You are a great example of resiliency. You are strong, and the people, and strong nations of BC need you to stay focussed and healthy for our future. With huge appreciation for you, your family, and your ancestors.

Adam Olsen we bestow upon you the Strawberry Vale award for the environment with appreciation from the future generations, us!”
May 9th will mark two years since my election to the provincial legislature. It’s been an incredible learning experience, and a test in every way. I am deeply thankful for this recognition from the students at Strawberry Vale. It’s good medicine!
YES!
Congratulations! It is certainly well deserved. How great is this to be regarded a shining example of environmental stewardship by our leaders of tomorrow. Those little trusting faces are why we as Greens are working hard to support leaders like you.
