Emily is hosting a workshop series called “Magic!“. I had the opportunity to attend my first one last week.
The focus was creativity. The session was a wonderfully random collection of creativity.
“Are you creative?”
“Do you consider yourself to be a creative person?”
While paint does not seem to turn into beautiful landscapes for me. And, nor do chord combinations collect into heart-stopping song. I am creating everyday.
Connections!
Creating connections between people is the most powerful part of my job. It’s the part I love most!
The best answer to a question, the best solution to a problem, often does not come from government. In fact, I am learning that is often the least best way to move something forward.
My office is a central hub where information and people flow in and out. Creating and strengthening networks by connecting like-minded people and ideas, is very exciting.
It’s this aspect of my job that makes me happy.
It’s why I accept seemingly random coffee meeting requests to engage disparate discussions. Because, somewhere along the way, someone along the way, will be able to better use the information than me.
So, I will carry the message for a little while, and share it with the right person. As a result, I create the connection to bring it to life.
That is my brush and canvas. And, this blog is my pen and paper.
It’s where ideas are tested and teased. A public chalkboard, hopefully creating another thought, another idea, another inspiration to carry forward, and share. Creating another connection somewhere else, with something else, empowering someone else.
So, how do you create?
