It’s time to pay attention!

There are volumes of people and groups, that come in to my office to meet.
A constant flow of information, creates many reference points.
Connect each point of the narrative, and weave them into a story.

This is a way to share the story with you. After all, it’s our story.
Although each point may seem disparate           and disconnected.
They are not.

Our story has been hidden from sight, locked behind a wall of rhetoric.
But, much happens in plain view.

The liquidation of our forests.
The pock-marked landscape of our northern fracking fields.
And destruction of our watersheds.
We see it, and wish otherwise.

The expensive and under-performing healthcare system.
The out-of-control opioid crisis.
And growing social isolation.
We feel it, and hope (yearn) for something else.

The crisis in our public institutions.
In British Columbia. And the PMO.
We knew it, and…

It is not the time to check out.

It’s time to demand accountability, transparency and leadership.
Insist the public interest is put first.

Apathy is a fertile medium in which a corrupted system grows.

But, do not be discouraged. It’s our story.
And we are authoring the next chapter.

Thank you for this, and for all of your blogs – many of them touch nerves for me. You are so correct…. staying engaged, maintaining high expectations of our public institutions, calling for accountability, and looking for creative new ways to address complex issues. Your blogs are inspiring!! and keeping me engaged.
