Blogs are an excellent way to deliver a story. Whatever topic you are interested in, there is likely a blog or several of them, from people with the same interest.
300 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube every minute. Live storytelling with video on platforms like Facebook and YouTube is growing in popularity.
Podcasts have become a favourite of mine, most recently Akimbo from Seth Godin, has piqued my curiosity.
Whatever way you choose to distribute your story, we have never before been able to produce and publish like we can now. Indeed, it is likely that on the same device you are reading this post, you have used it to publish your own story, or at least part of it.
So that is what Bill Collins is doing with Radio Sidney. Have you heard about it yet?
The roving studio, that is currently looking for a permanent home in Sidney, broadcasts the stories of the Saanich Peninsula from anywhere. Our constituency office boardroom, Quince Cafe and the Brentwood Bay Village Empourium have all been host.
Radio Sidney is a volunteer-powered, non-profit, community radio station committed to amplifying the life and culture of the Saanich Peninsula. The goal is to get a frequency and license to broadcast across the airwaves. But, for now Radio Sidney is online. Or, download the app from iTunes or the Google Play store to take it on the go.
Telling the stories of our community, strengthens our local culture. And, through the tools available to each one of us, we can deliver our story to the rest of the world.
Radio Sidney is doing just that! Check them out.
